“Good morning,” he said as he set her coffee cup on the counter and filled it with the dark, steaming liquid that she counted on, she felt, to stay alive, keep her edge and make it through the day. He dropped a menu in front of her and walked off to see to another customer. A good morning it was indeed, she thought to herself.
