“You’re leaving?” My assistant asked, arching her brow at the mountain of contracts we still had to review.
“Don’t look at me like that Anna, I’ll get to those contracts this evening, but I’m having a shitty day and I just want to go home and relax for a while.” I rubbed my temples in an attempt to ease the tension. My stress level was out of control and I needed to get out of here.
“I’ll pack your briefcase with a few and I’ll stay late and review the rest.”
“Why don’t you let me do them and you go out and have a nice evening?” I asked, encouraging her to attempt some semblance of a life outside of work. She was too young to work as hard as she did. Not that I was any different at her age.
“How about we split them evenly and we both attempt to have a nice evening?” she countered.
“Deal, now help me get out of this place without getting distracted.”
