With the end of high school rapidly approaching Laura should have a lot to look forward to but instead she’s filled with anguish. Her boyfriend is the star player and is coveted by all the major colleges and even some NBA teams.
She trusts in their love but she’s heard the stories and is worried that they’ll be able to tempt him away from her, but despite all this she feels safe when his huge limbs are wrapped around her, and she has to struggle to hold onto that feeling, even when someone comes and tries to manipulate her.

The roar of the crowd was deafening. It was the last game of the high school basketball season and Laura was watching her boyfriend, Ray, storm down the centre of the court. He twisted and shimmied and his gangly limbs seemed to be everywhere. His dark ebony skin glistened with sweat as the light from the powerful electric beams shone down. From her vantage point Laura was close to the action and she could see the players’ expressions. Ray was focused and determined; his eyebrows dived into the middle of his forehead in something that looked like a scowl. His mouth hung open revealing white teeth and a wide pink tongue.
To anyone else he would have appeared angry but Laura knew that he was focused. The one that was marking him moved swiftly…
