Paul was watching as Kat spoke with the bouncer at the bar, oozing charm and smiling broadly at the man, who was too busy enjoying her story to notice that neither she nor Paul had paid the cover charge. The tall, broad, long-haired giant standing at the door attached paper wristbands without even really looking down at their wrists, smiling faintly as Kat came to the conclusion of her story with a laugh that even had the ability to distract Paul — even though he’d known her for years.
