Emma could hardly breathe as he slipped the ring on her third finger. Robbie looked at her, smiling and expectant, he had no idea. She swallowed hard, a wave of guilt and relief washed over her; she really had gotten away with it.
“Yes,” she replied softly, touching his face, “I will marry you.” With that, his arms slipped around her waist as he pulled her close, her long, black hair hung over his shoulders as he kissed her lips, her neck, the top of her collar bones, visible in the scooped neckline of her dress.
“I love you so much,” he murmured in her hair, “I will be such a good husband for you.”
She knew it was true. Her face was hot and she closed her eyes, the shame had to be visible. She promised herself that now that she wore his ring, it would never happen again.
