Jeanne leaned close to the mirror, making sure her mascara was applied just perfectly. It wouldn’t do to arrive at the party with smudged or jagged make-up. As she was putting the mascara away, a light rapping on the door echoed through the small bathroom.
“Are you almost done? I don’t want to be late.”
Jeanne glanced down at her cell phone and rolled her eyes. They weren’t even close to being late. But of course Erick had to be early. It wasn’t like she could complain though. Him being early and staying late all these years directly contributed to him becoming a partner at the top law firm in the county.
