Karen grabbed her bags out of the cab, one by one setting them on the ground. She had tried to travel light, but being a young girl, that was not so easy. Part of the problem was that she’d actually already been in Paris a week, getting settled in at her new school as well as enjoying all the sights and tastes of the city. Along the way she’d already picked up extra baggage; a Paris snow globe for her baby sister, a small Mona Lisa poster for her mother, a designer watch for her father, and so the list went on.
She had pretty much spent most of her allowance money in the first week, afraid that between school and her new job, there would be no time for the fun stuff. Now she was standing in front of the house she would be living in for the next three months, dreading the thought of having to buckle down and start work and school.
