Kate sat in Ma Nolan’s Irish pub, at noon drinking tea and reading her paper. Despite the fact that she was now in Nice, France she felt a little more at home here in Ma Nolan’s. At night the place was loud and full of drinkers and eaters, but during the day it was quite nice just to sit here and drink a coffee or tea and read a paper. Maybe have some idle conversation with others doing the same.
There was nothing wrong with loud and active. In fact she loved loud music and dancing, and there were plenty of places to do that in Nice, and neighboring Cannes, but in Ma Nolan’s she didn’t feel displaced as much, it was like a touch stone. Her father owned a place much like Ma Nolan’s in Chicago, back in the States. So this was relaxing and revitalizing for her.
A man came in, wearing shorts and a long T-shirt. She had seen him before, and like before, her eyes fixated on his body. He was in better shape than any one she had ever seen. He wasn’t huge or muscular — just vibrate and glowing with life…
