Arriving in Hong Kong I was seriously trashed. The excruciating flight out of LAX left me worn and exhausted. After that I had to go through customs with a canister of frozen horse sperm. That was no fun at all, and amazingly stressful.
For several hours I was sure they were going to confiscate the canister. I don’t know what finally changed their minds, but after four hours they let me leave customs, with the canister intact, and go to my hotel. At the hotel they couldn’t find my reservation. After thirty minutes of that I was ready to buy a gun, but I’m against capital punishment so I let the urge pass.
“Yes,” I assured them, “Dr. Jane Tanner. Reservation for one, for seven days.”
