“Come on, you know you want to do it,” Helen said in a wheedling tone and laughed.
Constance screwed up her face, but joined in the laughter. “I should have known there was an ulterior motive for you offering to take me for a coffee.. and pay for it.”
“Hey…,” Helen protested. “I take you out for coffee all the time.”
“Uh huh,” Constance replied dryly and picked up her cup to take a sip.
“OK, OK,” her friend went on. “Maybe all the time is a bit of an exaggeration, but I do take you out for coffee and treat you sometimes.”
Constance put her cup back down. “Isn’t there anybody else that can do it?” she asked.
