Alice Freeman was twenty-six and free. Free from college, free from obligations and free from attachment. With this freedom she stepped on a plane in New York city and got off in Rome, Italy. She felt alive once the plane touched down, even after the mind-numbing Trans-Atlantic flight. Clear of customs and her backpack retrieved from luggage, she found a cab and gave the driver the address of her hotel.
