“Are we really going to do this?” I looked over and studied Mack’s face as he drove. He kept his eyes forward, his lip firmly between his teeth. Though he probably wouldn’t admit it, the nervousness was evident on his face. We’d talk about today a thousand times, both of us excited to plan it out. But now that it was finally going to happen, it looked like neither of us were quite sure whether or not we should go through with it.
But Mack nodded and said “Yeah,” lightly, but firmly.
If this was what he wanted, I wouldn’t say no. Truth be told, I wanted this too. I was still excited about today, but that didn’t stop me from wanting him to turn the car around and take us both home. I wouldn’t make him do that though, not if he really wanted to do this.
