Her hand shook as she dialed the number. This was pathetic. Absolutely, no good would come of this. She should just take her lumps and be done with it. She tipped her head to the ceiling, was there still a chance to hang up? She jumped as she heard the click of the phone as it was picked up.
“Hello?” a male voice answered. She bit her lip and took a deep breath. She had no choice now.
“Hello, Evan? I-I need you,” she stumbled a bit over the words. Nothing like that ever came out of her mouth. Heat flooded her face as she heard his chuckle.
“What do you need me for sweetie?” His voice was like silk. She could just imagine what this man thought of her. That’s how he made his money, after all. She pressed her fingers against her mouth. Now wasn’t the time to be scared.
“I… I need…” she could barely hear her own voice. The backs of her eyes started to burn. Of course, she would burst into tears while she was on the phone with a gigolo. Because the call didn’t embarrass her enough.
