Charity is a typical teenager and when she’s whisked away for a family holiday in Italy she hates the idea, because she hates the thought of missing out on the things her friends are doing. More importantly however, her crush is in town and she knows there are other vultures ready to swoop in during her absence.
However, after they arrive in Italy she explores the small town herself and after an encounter with a man who is the epitome of the Mediterranean allure she beings to think that it may not be such a bad holiday after all.

“Are you ready yet?” an exasperated voice called up from downstairs. Charity took a moment to suppress her anger because there had been far too many outbursts in the household and she wanted to try and prevent another argument, although it was incredibly difficult.
“Give me a minute!” she yelled back, and tried to enjoy a few more seconds of peace and quiet before she had to join her family. She looked around her room and prepared to say goodbye for a couple of weeks. This room was her sanctuary, and was an embodiment of her identity. From the posters on the wall to the cuddly toys on the bed, it encapsulated all of her life and was almost like a shrine to the journey she had been on.
